OpenReach Introduces Industry's First True IPSec Extranet
OpenReach Introduces Industry's First True IPSec Extranet; Breakthrough Offering Provides Security and Flexibility but Without the Cost and Complexity of Traditional Partner Networks.
Business/Technology Editors WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2002 OpenReach, Inc., the leading provider of virtual private network (VPN) overlay services, today announced OpenReach Extranet, a breakthrough approach to interbusiness communications and the industry's first true IPSec extranet solution. Built on OpenReach's patent-pending Interlock(TM) technology, OpenReach Extranet redefines the way businesses communicate by empowering each partner in the extranet to individually control its network access and security policies.

OpenReach Extranet is the first IPSec-based VPN to enable rapid and seamless any-to-any network connectivity regardless of partner infrastructure, location, or service provider. OpenReach's breakthrough Extranet solution is part of OpenReach's Off-Net Plus application suite, a new family of applications for SOHO, disaster recovery, and extranets, that enable businesses to easily connect locations anywhere in minutes. OpenReach's Extranet offering enables businesses to establish inter-company communications with unprecedented ease and speed but without compromising security or control.
A unique "mutual consent trust model" lets partners set up and tear down connections without coordinating through a central extranet hub. Per-tunnel access control lists (ACLs) allow companies to enforce unique security policies for each connected partner. Finally, automatic address reconciliation dynamically and transparently resolves private and public address conflicts between partner networks. All of this is accomplished using a single VPN gateway on each participant's premises -- significantly reducing the cost to deploy and operate an extranet. |
